A Hybrid vehicle has an electric motor plus a petrol or diesel engine. Fill up at a fuel station and the petrol or diesel engine charges the battery. When there's enough charge, the car runs off the electric motor. A PHEV vehicle (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) has an electric motor plus a petrol or diesel engine. Fill up at a fuel station. To charge the battery, plug in like an EV. When it runs out of battery power it automatically switches to the petrol or diesel engine. Examples below.
